"Hevelius" | DIR. Jan Holoubek | Netflix (2025)

Hevelius is an upcoming Polish drama television miniseries about the 1993 sinking of the MS Jan Heweliusz. Featuring an ensemble cast, it will be released on Netflix in 2025.

The series was announced as "the largest and most complex Polish television series production in recent years," featuring over 120 named characters and 3,000 extras, and requiring a crew of over 140 members. It was shot in Świnoujście, Szczecin, Zgorzelec, Gdynia, Sopot, Nowy Port, Wrocław, Warsaw, Chałupki, and Stargard. Additionally, water stunt scenes were filmed in a studio in Brussels.

An MMA fighter balances her career and raising her son.
After an incident at her son's school, she is forced to transfer him to "Wonderful Haven", an institution recommended by a psychologist from the counseling center. The young mother is unaware that the parents of the "Haven" students come from a completely different world than her.
Among them is a single father, an influencer, and a devoted mother who sacrificed everything for her son. Initially, the woman is skeptical about the school, but after her son befriends one of the students, the young mother has to accept the new situation. It turns out, however, that "Wonderful Haven" is not without its problems, which cause the woman's fighting spirit to come to the fore.

His ambitious plans, however, are disturbed by the difficult everyday life of the landowner: on the regional council, the idea of raising taxes must be vetoed again, the peasants unconvinced with the theory of dripping lose motivation to work, the daughter opposes the release of the magnate for her son, and the crafty neighbor Andrzej is plotting how to harvest larger crops this year... In addition, the Noble Republic is maliciously just now falling into decline. Fortunately, providence is always on the Polish side, and John's progressive thinking will allow him to get out of every situation and reach for eternal glory!.

"STILL HERE | WARSZAWIANKA" - DIR. JACEK BORCUCH | SKY SHOWTIME (2023)

Still Here / Warszawianka is a 12-part series written by Jakub Żulczyk, directed by Jacek Borcuch and starring Borys Szyc. Piotr Uznański is the DoP and Marcin Lenarczyk is the Sound Designer.

The drama series follows the tragicomic adventures of a 40-year-old urban legend in Warsaw. He is a deeply complex character, an irresponsible party animal, a serial lothario and everyone’s friend at the same time. Behind the veneer, he is tormented and self-loathing, trapped by his parents. With a head full of dreams, his talent for writing has stolen the hearts of Generation X, but he hasn’t grown up.

The producer for HBO Europe / SkyShowtime is Izabela Łopuch and Executive Producers are Johnathan Young, Steve Matthews and Antony Root.

The line producer from Magnolia Films is Andrzej Besztak.

"Wielka Woda" | Dir. Jan Holoubek & Bartosz Ignaciuk | Netflix (2022)

Netflix commenced filming of a new mini-series based around the floods that submerged the region in 1997. Inspired by true events, the flood was to become one of the defining moments in the Polish history.

Directed by Jan Holoubek and Bartłomiej Ignaciuk, Wielka Woda is scheduled to land next year on the streaming platform. According to the press release, the six-part drama will follow a decision to sacrifice local villages in order to save Wrocław from the impending flood.

Filming kicked-off with the all-star cast including Agnieszka Żulewska, Tomasz Schuchardt, Ireneusz Czop and the award-winning Anna Dymna. Alongside them, scores of extras have been recruited locally and swathes of the city temporarily cordoned off to allow for filming.

"CRACOW MONSTERS" - Dir. Kasia Adamik & Olga Chajdas | Netflix (2022)

The main character, a medical student (Alex), meets a mysterious professor and his elite group of students. To his amazement, he discovers that, under the guise of scientific research, the group is doing something completely different. Alex becomes embroiled in a plot that confronts her with the world of Slavic beliefs, ancient monsters and bloodthirsty deities.

The deeply frozen Cold War is heating up. Twenty years after a devastating terrorist attack in 1983 that halted the course of Poland’s liberation and the subsequent downfall of the Soviet Union, an idealistic law student and a disgraced police investigator stumble upon a conspiracy that has kept the Iron Curtain standing and Poland living under a repressive police state.

Now, in 2003, after two decades of peace and prosperity, the leaders of the regime enact a secret plan made with an unlikely adversary in the 1980s that will radically transform Poland and affect the lives of every citizen in the nation — and the world.
What these two men discover has the potential to ignite a revolution and those in power will stop at nothing to keep it a secret.

The highly anticipated series features Robert Więckiewicz and Maciej Musiał as a disgraced police investigator and an idealistic law student who stumble upon a conspiracy that changed the course of the nation and kept the Iron Curtainl standing. The impressive Polish cast also includes Michalina Olszańska, Andrzej Chyra, Zofia Wichłacz, Mirosław Zbrojewicz, Ewa Błaszczyk, Wojciech Kalarus, Edyta Olszówka and Agnieszka Żulewska.

The series was created and written by Joshua Long and will be produced for Netflix by The Kennedy/Marshall Company and The House Media Company. Frank Marshall (Jurassic World, Jason Bourne) and Robert Zotnowski (House of Cards) will be Executive Producers on the series for The Kennedy/Marshall Company, along with Polish producer Andrzej Besztak (House Media), Joshua Long, Maciej Musiał and Agnieszka Holland.

Directors of Photography are Tomasz Naumiuk and Arkadiusz Tomiak. Anna Anosowicz is responsible for Production Design and Katarzyna Lewińska for Costume Design. The composer on the series is Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz. 1983 will be shot in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Lublin, and Silesia.

Directed by Academy Award®-Nominee Agnieszka Holland as well as Kasia Adamik, Olga Chajdas and Agnieszka Smoczyńska, the eight-episode series recently started production and is expected to be available to Netflix members globally later this year.
